Would you believe me if I told you that I spent my Friday night baking this? It started out as an innocent quick Friday dessert project. But of course I didn’t quite take in mind the rising time of the dough and that in my currently cold kitchen it would take even longer. But finally I made the best Nutella chocolate babka and it was divine. I did accidentally burn the top a bit, but just enough so it would taste even better.
You know I was thinking about not posting it since I burnt the top a bit well the chocolate at least. But then I realized that the burnt part may be the best part. Like pizza rinds, it’s the crunchy tasty part. The best Nutella chocolate babka is a very versatile dessert. You can make it in advance and serve the next day. You can take it to a family dinner and bake there and serve hot.
I think it’s time we go an with our weeks and plan another babka baking afternoon. Maybe a savory one next time. Who knows?
Of course you can make your own filling but for a satisfactory, quick and familiar taste I went for Nutella because it never disappoints.
